Labrador Retrievers have gained so much popularity since their humble beginnings. In fact, they were the top dogs for nearly 30 years until the French Bulldog knocked them down to 2nd place in 2022. Labradors are loyal, energetic, and affectionate.

If you are interested in hybrid pups, here are 38 of the top crosses you can pick. They each have unique physical and behavioral differences due to the unique traits they inherit from their parents.

Height: 22–24 inches
Weight: 50–65 pounds
Coat Colors: Yellow, chocolate, black, gray

One of the most popular Lab crosses is the gorgeous Labradoodle, which combines the Labrador and the Poodle. Labradoodles generally have curly hair but can also inherit the Lab’s coat, which is straight and sheds frequently. Their coat and shedding frequency will determine if they’re suitable for owners with allergies.

Labradoodle owners describe them as having incredibly trainable, heartwarming personalities. They are so wonderful with people that many Labradoodles are trained in service roles, helping people with emotional and physical struggles.

2. Aussiedor (Labrador Retriever x Australian Shepherd Mix)

Hybrid: Labrador Retriever/Australian Shepherd
Height: 22–25 inches
Weight: 40–80 pounds
Coat Colors: Merle, yellow, chocolate, black, tri-color, red

The Australian Shepherd Labrador Retriever can display several coat colors and may have a genetic trait that gives them one blue eye. This occurrence is called heterochromia. The Aussiedor is a very adventurous hybrid that is always on the move and alert. Because of their energetic nature, they do well with complicated training. They thrive in homes where they have tasks to perform.

11. Labernard (Labrador Retriever x Saint Bernard)

Hybrid: Labrador Retriever/Saint Bernard
Height: 25–32 inches
Weight: 80–150 pounds
Coat Colors: Tricolor, yellow, chocolate, white, black

Corgidors are very family-friendly and get along great with other pets. Since both parent breeds are sometimes too intelligent for their own good, they are highly trainable with a love for new tasks.

15. Spanador (Labrador Retriever x American Cocker Spaniel)

Hybrid: Labrador Retriever/Irish Setter
Height: 21–23 inches
Weight: 55–100 pounds
Coat Colors: Mahogany, chestnut, red, yellow, black, brown

Hybrid: Labrador Retriever/Newfoundland
Height: 25–27 inches

The Labrabull combines the muscular American Pit Bull Terrier with the agility of the Lab. This powerful duo makes a fun-loving, on-the-move dog that loves to explore the world. They are mild-tempered and form strong bonds with their owners. Labmaraners are packed with energy and need at least 1½ hours of daily exercise. They are more suitable for active owners who enjoy spending time outside. However, if left for long periods with no stimulation, Labmaraners can get nervous and develop bad behaviors.

The lovely, brawny Labraboel combines the presence of the Boerboel with the friendliness of a Lab. They are sensational at guarding your home to make sure everyone is safe. Because of this combination, they have excellent judgment and only act if it’s warranted.

Labraboels are kind to children, and some females will even act motherly toward them. They take pride in keeping the little ones safe, but they can be problematic when they live with another dog of the same sex.

33. Labloodhound (Labrador Retriever x Bloodhound)

Hybrid: Labrador Retriever/Afghan Hound
Height: 24–27 inches
Weight: 50–70 pounds

Hybrid: Labrador Retriever/Boston Terrier
Height: 13–17 inches
Weight: 17–20 pounds
Coat Colors: Black and white, black, merle, chocolate, yellow
Character: Bold, affectionate, attached

The Boston Lab is a chipper companion with a wonderful personality. They are smaller hybrids due to their Boston Terrier traits. They are perfect companion animals but might wag a tail at a robber rather than sound the attack.

Both parent breeds are amiable, but Boston Terriers can be a little bossy sometimes. The Lab half balances these traits well, but some might still be a little feisty occasionally.

Final Thoughts

How many incredible Lab mixes did you write down for additional research? There are several to choose from, and picking a favorite can be challenging. Labs lend a ton of personality and energy into the mix, leveling many dominant or finicky traits in other parent breeds.

If you love any of these dogs, you can visit shelters and rescue to find Lab mixes that need forever homes. It’s less expensive to adopt a dog instead of buying a pup from a breeder.
