National French Bulldog Day 2024: What Is It & How to Celebrate

In 2022, French Bulldogs became America’s most popular dog breed, taking over the Labrador Retriever’s 31-year reign. With their irresistible little faces and playful and adaptable personalities, it’s not hard to see how these adorable pups have stolen people’s hearts.

If you need more reasons to celebrate them, January 13th is National French Bulldog Day. It’s the pawfect time to show the Frenchie in your life just how much you love them. Read on to learn more about this special day, including how to celebrate it with your pup.

How to Celebrate French Bulldog Day as a Frenchie Owner

You don’t need a special day to celebrate your Frenchie, but National French Bulldog Day is the perfect time to acknowledge your remarkable little pup. Below are some of the best ways to mark January 13th every year.

  • Paint the town red. National French Bulldog Day is the best time to go out on the town with your Frenchie. Visit your favorite dog-friendly café or brewery and enjoy a drink alongside your pup. Of course, this might be a little more challenging if you live somewhere with cold weather in January. Most restaurants cannot, by law, allow dogs indoors, but you may be able to find an outlier if you do some research.
  • Treat them to a Puppuccino. As a dog-friendly fan favorite, the Starbucks Puppuccino is a sample-sized cup full of whipped cream. You won’t find this on the menu, but your barista will know precisely what you’re looking for when you ask for one.
  • Buy them a new toy. There’s no better way to treat your Frenchie on National French Bulldog Day than by buying a new toy.
  • Take them somewhere new. Though Frenchies aren’t the most energetic breed, they still enjoy adventuring outside with you. Remember that Frenchies are brachycephalic, so avoid overexerting them on your adventures. You might also invest in a winter coat for your pup if the climate in your area is cold in January.
  • Carve out some snuggle time. Frenchies are a very cuddly and loving breed. If your pup prefers a snuggle session over outdoor adventures, curl up on the sofa together.
  • Meet up with other Frenchie owners. If you don’t know any other Frenchie owners in your area, there’s no better time to start networking than National French Bulldog Day. There may be local French Bulldog groups you can connect with online to meet up with other owners.

How to Celebrate French Bulldog Day as an Animal Organization

If you own a pet-centric business, you can (and should) celebrate French Bulldog Day with your customers and clients.

  • Host a photo booth photography session. Draw attention to your business and make extra money by hosting a Frenchie-specific photobooth. Hire a local photographer or dust off your DSLR camera to save money. You can paint a Paris-themed backdrop or buy one online. Don’t forget the photobooth accessories like berets or black-and-white striped shirts to put the “French” in Frenchie.
  • Host a bake sale. A French-inspired bake sale is a great way to bring in more business while celebrating Frenchies. The best French desserts include eclairs, palmiers, macarons, butter cookies, crème brulee, and madeleine cookies.
  • Donate to French Bulldog organizations. Organizations like the French Bulldog Rescue Network need donations to operate. The FBRN’s mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome in-need Frenchies from shelters, rescues, and breeders.

Conclusion

While we think spoiling your pup is perfectly acceptable every day, National French Bulldog Day is the day to ensure your Frenchie gets all the hugs and kisses they deserve. Mark your calendars for January 13th and put on a yearly reminder so you never forget about this special day to commemorate your remarkable canine companion.
